In drought times, however, the lake can be reduced to a few pools, inhabited by hundreds of flamingos.

The area offers several nearby dams that provide excellent fishing amenities and various forms of watersports for the adrenaline junkie at heart.

Ermelo has many opportunities for adrenaline pumping watersports as well as fishing, swimming and bird watching.
